Brent Bloomquist was arrested on July 1, 2020, for the 2002 sex assault of a 62-year-old woman. She had been walking home on the night of May 31, 2002, in Arvada, Colorado, when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown assailant.
A DNA profile was obtained from semen found at the crime scene, and a ‘John Doe Warrant’ was issued for the suspect. The FGG investigation was conducted by United Data Connect.
The suspect’s DNA has matched another cold case rapes in the area, but since a DNA warrant was not issued in those cases, the statute of limitations may have run out.
On January 11, 2021, Bloomquist pled guilty to the charges in Jefferson County Court. In April of 2021, he was sentenced to 4 years in prison.
