Chadwick Shane Mobley, 42, was arrested on June 28, 2023 in Libby, Montana and charged with the November 2011 murder of 20-year-old Andrea Eilber in Mayfield Township, Michigan.
Eilber’s body was found in the basement of her aunts’ home on November 16, 2011. She had been bound and killed with a single gunshot wound to her head, likely two days earlier. The DNA profile of an unknown male was recovered from a cigarette found at the scene.
There is currently little information on who conducted the FGG investigation.
Eilber’s boyfriend, Kenneth Grondin III, was convicted of her murder in 2015. His conviction was overturned on appeal in 2018 due to faulty language on the jury verdict instruction form. He is currently awaiting retrial.
Doubts have been raised regarding Grondin’s conviction since the verdict was overturned. It is not clear at this time if Mobley is a co-accused, or if the two men committed the murder together. Police have stated that they may have recovered the firearm used in the murder in Mobley’s vehicle – a .38-caliber Colt revolver.
After police collected buccal swabs of Mobley’s DNA to compare with the crime scene profile, Mobley fled the area. Mobley is currently being detained at the Lincoln County Detention Center while awaiting extradition to Michigan, where he will face charges of first-degree murder, premeditated homicide, felony murder, and felony possession of a firearm in the Lapeer County District Court.
