Daniel Alan Anderson has been identified as the lead suspect in the murder of 15-year-old John Muncy. Muncy’s dismembered body was located beside a roadway in Delaware County, Ohio on October 16, 1983. It is thought that Muncy was kidnapped from the East Side of Columbus, Ohio, near where he lived.
The blood of the suspected perpetrator was collected from Muncy’s body at the time of the offence, and a DNA profile was later obtained. The FGG investigation was conducted by Parabon Nanolabs. The FGG investigation in this case narrowed the suspect pool down to Daniel or one of his two brothers. FGG can often narrow a suspect down to a sibling cohort, and these siblings must then be eliminated through additional investigative methods. In this case, Daniel’s two living brothers were quickly eliminated as suspects without their DNA being tested. There is no data in this case as to how the initial confirmation was made.
Anderson died in 2013, and so the case has been cleared by exception. Investigators state that Anderson had a violent criminal past involving other young boys.
