Jason Groshart, 49, was arrested on October 4, 2022 for a March 30, 2004 home invasion rape in Denver, Colorado.
There is currently no information on who conducted the FGG investigation. Police have not stated if surreptitious sampling was used, only that his DNA was obtained, and that a direct comparison was made with the suspect DNA collected from the crime scene.
The investigation was conducted by the Denver PD in cooperation with the FBI, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and the Denver Integrated Cold Case Project of the Denver District Attorney’s Office. The investigation was funded by a Genetic Genealogy and Familial Match Searching grant from the Bureau of Justice Assistance in 2020.
