John Harris Jr. was arrested on 25 February 2021 for the rape and attempted murder of a woman in San Mateo, California. On February 4, 1989, an unknown male broke into the victim’s home just after 4:00 am in the morning and raped her at knifepoint. He strangled her and slashed her throat, but she survived.
There is no information about who conducted the investigation. The San Mateo Police Department stated that they were assisted in the investigation by the Manteca Police Department and the FBI.
The charges against Harris are pending in the San Mateo Superior Court.
