Kabeh Cummings

On September 1, 2023, 35-year-old Kabeh Cummings was charged in connection with three cold-case sexual assaults in Sacramento.

The first victim was attacked in Sacramento near Franklin Boulevard in the North Laguna neighbourhood on February 23, 2010. The second victim was attacked in Sacramento near Florin Road in the Meadowview neighbourhood on March 20, 2010. Both victims were kidnapped, choked, and then sexually assaulted while walking home.

The third victim was attacked on September 19, 2013, near Watt Avenue and Auburn Boulevard in Sacramento County. She was kidnapped with the assistance of a stun gun, threatened with death, and sexually assaulted.

A DNA profile of the suspect in the third case was developed when the case was reopened in November of 2021, and entered into CODIS. It matched the two cases in the city of Sacramento, but not to any offenders currently in the database. The DNA profiles in the three cases were developed from the victims’ sexual assault kits.

There are no reports at the present time of who assisted the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and the Sacramento Police Department in conducting the FIGG investigation. The initial confirmation was made through surreptitious sampling.

Cummings was detained at his home in Staten Island, New York. He is facing charges of rape, kidnapping, forcible sodomy, and forcible oral copulation in Sacramento County Superior Court. He lived in the city of Sacramento from 2008 to 2014 where he was a program director for the City’s Department of Youth, Parks, and Community Engagement.

Cummings has no criminal record. In 2019, he was sued in New York for the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl whom he was charged with supervising in a foster care program in 2015. That case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning that the victim is barred from instituting further proceedings against Cummings.
