On September 13, 2023, police arrested 55-year-old Linford Deamoris Moore for an October 1997 sexual assault in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
The victim was asleep in her home when she was sexually assaulted by an intruder who shined a flashlight in her face and placed a bag over her head. The case was reopened in 2015 for DNA testing of evidence. At that time, the Bureau of Justice Assistance provided Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) funding to the Fayetteville PD to test DNA from uncleared sexual assaults.
The FIGG investigation was conducted by Parabon Nanolabs in partnership with the Fayetteville Police Department.
Moore is facing charges of first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping, and felony breaking and entering in Cumberland County Superior Court. He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.
