Lucas Alonso

Lucas Alonso, now 66, was arrested on March 6, 2023 for the February 24, 2000 murder of 37-year-old Linda Fields in Racine, Wisconsin.

Fields’ body was found under the low-hanging branches of a pine tree in the front yard of a lakefront home. She had been strangled to death.

The source of the DNA sample is not specified, but it may be semen. Multiple samples from a male contributor were located at the crime scene, and the profile did not return any hits in state and national law enforcement databases.

The FGG investigation was conducted by Othram in partnership with the Racine County Police Department and the FBI, beginning in May of 2021. DNA samples were collected from the brother and the father of a male suspect. The sample collected from the father was taken pursuant to a warrant, and it was found to be a match to the crime scene DNA.

Alonso, who is originally from Zion, Illinois, is currently detained on a $1 million bond. He is facing charges of first-degree murder in Racine County Circuit Court.

Alonso has stated that he was engaged in sexual intercourse with Fields on the day of her death, and he choked her after she attempted to end the encounter. He believed that she was alive when he walked away and left here there.

Police have stated that they took DNA samples from 5 men over the years, all of whom were eliminated as suspects.
