Rayshawn Hundley, 47 years old, was arrested on October 4, 2021, for a home invasion rape of a minor that took place on December 31, 1995, in Cleveland, Ohio. The victim was a 16-year-old girl from Alabama who was visiting her aunt in Cleveland for the holidays. An unknown male broke into the home while she was sleeping and sexually assaulted her in her bedroom. He stole a VCR and several cassette tapes. A SAK was taken from the victim in the hospital.
A DNA profile from the SAK was obtained in 2015. The suspect, known as “John Doe #102” was chosen as one of 20 priority cases for the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office’s G.O.L.D. (Genetic Operations Linking DNA) Unit. The funding for this project was provided by the U.S. Department of Justice in October of 2020. The G.O.L.D.
The FIGG investigation was conducted by Barbara Rae-Venter of Firebird Forensics. The initial confirmation was made through surreptitious sampling.
Hundley is charged with rape, kidnapping, and aggravated burglary in Cuyahoga County. The victim of this sexual assault passed away in August of 2021, before the identity of her attacker could be confirmed to her.
